I'm glad to say that I've not had this problem with this product... after I reinstalled the spout with the gaskets going in the correct direction (they both curve into the plastic, not out). If you make this mistake, it will leak. I expect I'll need to tighten the nuts in a few months as the gaskets settle.
The plastic is the same tough stuff that five gallon bottles of water are delivered in. The spout also appears to be the same as on a commercial water cooler. The construction is high quality as you would expect for the price. The large lid allows for easy cleaning except through the narrow handle.
It does have the small annoyances of similar water bottles. You do have to open the lid slightly to let air in for proper water flow, but a tight lid lets you fill it and carry it around with the handle. The bottom isn't sloped so the flow will decrease as it gets empty and you'll never be able to get the last tablespoons of water out through the spout.
