Waring Pro PC50 Cordless Wine Chiller, Brushed Chrome Review

I just received this as a gift a few days ago as a Christmas gift from my brother. I'm left wanting...I don't believe this product is worth it's price. The idea is great but, the basket insert sizes are not accurate. The large basket didn't fit my bottle of wine, so it seems even though you are given a small and large basket- you should only use a small bottle of wine. Standard ice from my freezer didn't fit into the chiller once I put the wine bottle in- you have to use small store bought ice or chipped broken pieces of ice, the sound/craftsmanship/overall quality of the product doesn't seem worth $50. Once the timer was done (and I doubled the suggested time) the wine I poured into my glass was only slightly above room temperature- even though the bottle felt pretty darn cold once I pulled it from the chiller. Save your money. Either spend more for a better wine chiller, or get something else altogether.

Exceptionally easy to operate, this tabletop wine holder chills wine in minutes, automatically rotating the bottle to cool it faster. Just turn on the timer and its cool blue backlit display counts down the number of minutes until the red, white, or champagne wine reaches an ideal serving temperature. Use the appliance with a cord or go cordless with the included rechargeable battery pack for convenient wine chilling on the boat or at a picnic. Accommodating bottles up to 3-1/2 inches in diameter, the wine chiller measures 8-1/4 by 8-1/4 by 11-3/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

The Sharper Image KP-W400 Single Wine Chiller, Black Review

I had wanted a wine chiller for a long time, and a programmable one sounded like a great idea. So I requested this item for Christmas.
I only recently had an occasion to use it (not being a frequent wine consumer). As another reviewer noted, it took almost a hour to chill a bottle from "room temperature" of 77 degrees down to 55 degrees on the first bottle I tried. When "ready," only the bottom third of the bottle felt the least bit cool. The top still felt warm to the touch. The bottle is held in the chiller on a slant, so the back was cool a little farther up the bottle; the front was not cool at all. The top cover does not seem to serve any purpose (like keeping in the cool air) at all. When I poured the wine, I discovered what I feared--it was still quite warm.
I tried a few days later with a different wine and it took about an hour and a half to chill to 43 degrees. This time, I turned the bottle every fifteen minutes, but the results were no better.
The library, although it lists reds and whites from several countries, and several different kinds of reds or whites under each country, seems only have about three or four preset temperatures, the best I can tell. One might as well just use 55 degrees for red and 43 for white and forget paying extra for a chiller with an extensive "library" of wine types to program in. Or, as has been observed, pop the bottle in the fridge for 30 minutes or the freezer for 15 and save the entire cost of this device.
Finally, although champagne is listed as one of the selections, there is no bottle of champagne that will fit in the receptacle. The appearance of the appliance is deceiving, as it does not have as much room inside as it appears from the outside.
Had I known all this, I would never have requested this item. Unfortunately, it's too late to return it.

Fridge Freezable Can Cooler Review

Fridge Freezable Can Cooler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My husband must have his beer ice cold. The Fridge keeps his beer cold and he says even makes it colder. My sister used one for her soft drink at our house and got right on her PC to buy some. We keep 6 of them in our freezer at all times so they are ready to go and then we just rotate them back to the freezer when we take a new beverage. My step-mom was complaining about a not so cold beer at a restaurant last weekend, so I'm online to buy her a set. They work. The only downside is that they don't fit in my car's cup holders when I want a soda for the road.

Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage & Wine Chiller Review

Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage and Wine Chiller
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We are purchasing our second Cooper Cooler. The last one we basically just wore out with heavy use over a few years. The need to add ice (a minor inconvenience) is better than waiting 30 minutes for a chilled glass of wine at the end of the day. We were given one of the Waring chillers that is a self-refrigerated type and it takes a long time to chill (although it is fine to keep wine at temperature near the dining table). But for a cold beer quickly, or to chill wine in 6 minutes (it really does!) this is the best and quickest. When we got our first Cooper Cooler, we were afraid we would "blow up" carbonated beverages with the spinner. No problem, spinning seems to work fine with no fizzy consequences. Even works for champagne if the bottle is small enough. Some are a little big.

Cooper Cooler HC01-A Rapid Beverage Chiller, White and Grey Review

Cooper Cooler HC01-A Rapid Beverage Chiller, White and Grey
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I saw this, I knew right away from my college beer drinking days that this would work very well. We used to buy crushed ice and lay hot beer cans on their side and spun them until cold. The drawback: you had to spin them yourself. What I wouldn't have given to have access to a device that provided the fastest and most effective cooling possible.
Pros:
-Works very well (but only if you load as much ice as possible)
-Works very quickly
-Small
-Handles cans, beer bottles, wine bottles, and even odd shaped stuff like juice boxes that you don't want to spin
-A surprising number of settings to suit your taste
-Did a lot of research. As of 8/1/2006 could not find anything even remotely close to this good.
-Spinning IS NOT shaking, so soda and beer do not explode
-Uses ice, not a liner that needs 8 hours of freezer time, both convenient and a space saving option
-Items are not submerged under icy water like other competing units, so you don't have to dredge for your drink in cold water
Cons:
-No power off switch... in standby you get flashing lights on the front which is annoying
-Relatively loud, does not appear to have slow roll option to reduce noise
-Paper labels on wine bottles get beaten up pretty badly, bits of paper come off (bottle becomes unsightly)
-Draining water requires you to unplug at the wall and carry to a sink (unlike my espresso maker which has a lift out chamber)
-Requires a power source, not portable unless you are handy and build a battery with gusto (which I can do, but most wouldn't try)
-Wine bottles tend to drip a little on the counter as the cold ice water is pumped on them, so we have to put a trivet or thick potholder under the front two feet to help discourage dripping on the counter.
I am considering adding a "roll" switch so that I can turn the unit off without unplugging which is an easy modification anyone can do (one a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 1, or really cheap and easy).
Bottom line: Despite cons, I recommend this item. Had it a year and still going, popular at parties.
