Cooper Cooler Blitz Chiller Review

Cooper Cooler Blitz Chiller

This is my third cooler from cooper.
I wore out the first two. I had each
for years and was happy with them.
The new one is VERY noisy. The lid
does not open nearly enough to enable
trouble free ice and water addition.
The lid latch has to be rapped just
right to get the lid to pop open.
It most often takes more than 5 or 6
tries.
I have given it three months to give
it a fair trial.
It goes in the trash and I am paying for
a new cooler of the old style.
Also, a 20oz plastic Pepsi bottle
will not fit.

Cooper Cooler's Blitz Chiller uses the patented Cooper Cooling Process, the quickest way to chill a beverage, to rapidly chill single-serve cans and bottles in six minutes or less. Ideal for 12-ounce glass, plastic, and aluminum containers, the chilling process involves two simultaneous steps. The beverage container is rotated horizontally at an optimal revolution per minute (RPM) while a spray of cold fluid (ice water) is sprayed onto the drink from the top.
The Blitz Chiller chills a canned beverage from 77 degrees to 38 degrees in two minutes, and down to 33 degrees in four minutes. Chill a bottle from 77 degrees to 41 degrees in four minutes, and to 36 degrees in six minutes. In a refrigerator, it takes about 4 hours to chill cans and bottles. In a freezer, it takes 50 minutes. In ice water, it takes about 25 minutes for cans and 30 minutes for bottles. These chill times are defined as bringing the beverage from room temperature (77ºF) to a cold drinking temperature (38ºF).
The Blitz Chiller is easy to use. Simply open the gadget, add ice and water, add your beverage, close the lid, and press the auto timer lever with 3 pre-set times. The unit shuts off automatically. This innovative gadget measures approximately 12 inches by nine inches by six inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage Chiller, Brushed-Silver Review

Cooper Cooler Rapid Beverage Chiller, Brushed-Silver
Average Reviews:

Designed by Cooper Union engineering students who proved it was the most efficient way to chill beverages, the Cooper Cooler never fails to fascinate those guests who turn up at your barbecue with warm beer, wine, or soda. Happily, it also never fails to chill your potables to the core. Be warned, however, that you will consume a lot of ice in the process. (Since this device does not actually perform any refrigeration, you provide a mixture of water and ice which it cascades over the spinning container. The ice melts completely after only a few chilled cans, or one bottle of wine.)
Another caveat, which may not have mattered to those in the engineering lab, is that this thing is hell on paper labels, what with the constant water, and the traction from the rubber wheels. You may then choose not to spin the bottle, but it will take approximately twice as long to chill your beverage.
Such is life.

Cooper Cooler HC02.C Tailgater Rapid Beverage Chiller Review

Unlike some reviewers, I found that this product fulfilled my expectations completely. The noise while the Cooper Cooler was operating did not seem any louder than the noise a microwave makes while running. While water and ice must be added to the cooler, the amount of ice recommended will actually cool several drinks. Far less ice is required than the manual recommends if you only want to cool one, two, even three or four drinks. Additionally, the tailgating model's adapter comes with an extra-long cord so that you're not forced to sit in the front seat of a car while using it, risking spilling water and ice all over the place. I bought this product as a gift for my brother, but have had ample experience using his, and will probably buy one for myself.

Quickly chill beverages from room temperature to cold drinking temperature with this convenient appliance by Cooper Cooler. In addition to freeing up refrigerator space, the chill-on-demand beverage chiller ensures ice-cold beverages are readily available for parties, entertaining, unexpected guests, and spontaneous gatherings. It also makes a useful addition to dorm rooms, office break rooms, and road trips. The unit can chill a 12-ounce can from 77 degrees F (25 degrees C) to refrigerator cold at 43 degrees F (6 degrees C) in about a minute, bottled beverages in about three and a half minutes, or a 750mL wine bottle in six minutes (much faster than other wine chillers or frozen gel sleeves)--all at the touch of a button. Double the aforementioned times for chilling these beverages to an ice-cold temperature of 33 degrees F (1 degree C).
To operate, simply add ice cubes and water, select the container setting, press "start", and the chiller takes care of the rest. An automatic touchpad timer stops the chilling process once the beverage has chilled completely. Its patented process chills by rotating the beverage horizontally while simultaneously spraying it with ice water. The process does not alter any beverage properties, and carbonated beverages like beer and soda won't foam over when opened. Even more, its "no-spin" feature chills delicate wines without disturbing the sediment in the bottle. The unit comes with a 120V household plug and a 12V car lighter plug, which only uses a small 30-watt draw so it won't drain the car battery. The beverage chiller measures 15 by 6 by 9 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Cooper Cooler HC01-A Rapid Beverage Chiller, White and Grey Review

Cooper Cooler HC01-A Rapid Beverage Chiller, White and Grey
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I saw this, I knew right away from my college beer drinking days that this would work very well. We used to buy crushed ice and lay hot beer cans on their side and spun them until cold. The drawback: you had to spin them yourself. What I wouldn't have given to have access to a device that provided the fastest and most effective cooling possible.
Pros:
-Works very well (but only if you load as much ice as possible)
-Works very quickly
-Small
-Handles cans, beer bottles, wine bottles, and even odd shaped stuff like juice boxes that you don't want to spin
-A surprising number of settings to suit your taste
-Did a lot of research. As of 8/1/2006 could not find anything even remotely close to this good.
-Spinning IS NOT shaking, so soda and beer do not explode
-Uses ice, not a liner that needs 8 hours of freezer time, both convenient and a space saving option
-Items are not submerged under icy water like other competing units, so you don't have to dredge for your drink in cold water
Cons:
-No power off switch... in standby you get flashing lights on the front which is annoying
-Relatively loud, does not appear to have slow roll option to reduce noise
-Paper labels on wine bottles get beaten up pretty badly, bits of paper come off (bottle becomes unsightly)
-Draining water requires you to unplug at the wall and carry to a sink (unlike my espresso maker which has a lift out chamber)
-Requires a power source, not portable unless you are handy and build a battery with gusto (which I can do, but most wouldn't try)
-Wine bottles tend to drip a little on the counter as the cold ice water is pumped on them, so we have to put a trivet or thick potholder under the front two feet to help discourage dripping on the counter.
I am considering adding a "roll" switch so that I can turn the unit off without unplugging which is an easy modification anyone can do (one a scale of 1 to 10, it's a 1, or really cheap and easy).
Bottom line: Despite cons, I recommend this item. Had it a year and still going, popular at parties.
