I wasn't sure I would buy more bags after initially trying the Freshsaver. I already own the "real" Foodsaver and use it often for freezer storage. But I was looking for something to extend the life of opened packages of cheese, meat, and vegetables in the refrigerator. It does not work as well as the "real" vaccuum packaging, but it does remove enough air to give me a few more days before something needs to be thrown away. And I can keep re-opening it and closing it throughout the week.
With the price of fresh produce what it is, the cost of the bags is paid for rather quickly, especially if I get a few uses out of them. I have a sort of a system where I use the bag the first time with a dry product that comes out of the bag with little residue. If I am sealing something smelly and kind of moist (like thinly sliced red onions, which I slice once a week and keep for various uses) I grab a used bag because it is going to smell of onions too much to use another time.
That was the long way of saying that I found I missed having them after running out of my sample bags and I re-ordered. I do keep the Freshsaver Unit right out on the countertop plugged in and ready to go. That is the only way to use it- tucked away in a drawer I would never bother to take it out, plug it in and use the bags as intended.

FoodSaver FSFRBZ0226 1-Quart Zipper Food-Storage Bags, 34 Count Review

I purchased a set of these quart bags when I purchased my Freshsaver. I have used mine for cheese, and also for cereal.
You can wash these by hand, or even in your dishwasher I read in the accompanying info. I just wash mine by hand. They don't suggest reusing them for raw meat or poultry or anything that is greasy which makes sense to me. Otherwise, once washed you can reuse them.
You just seal them like a Ziploc bag, then apply the Freshsaver System to the upper right hand side, where there is this green rimmed circle. Directions are on the bags. Very easy! The bags seem very sturdy. Alittle pricey you may think, but reusing them will help to defray the cost.

Compatible with FoodSaver's FreshSaver and MealSaver vacuum-sealing systems, this box of 34 1-quart zipper bags offers a smart storage solution for a variety of dry goods and perishables. The bags' unique multi-ply construction and specially designed channels block out moisture and air to help retain freshness, which means foods last longer and better maintain their color and flavor. Great for frequently opened items such as deli meats, chopped fruits and vegetables, leftovers, and other mid-sized foods, the bags feature extra-strong, double-track zippers that afford both convenience and quick access when assembling sandwiches, tossing together salads, and more. Best of all, they help busy kitchens avoid cross-contamination by sealing securely around raw meats, fish, or other foods that could pass along food-borne illnesses. The box of 34 zipper bags measures approximately 6 by 8-4/5 by 2-4/5 inches.
