I ordered this item, a delivery date was scheduled, and funds were withdrawn from my account. Now, days before delivery was scheduled, my order was cancelled and this item is no longer available on Amazon.com - you have to go to an external site (that does not carry the Amazon guarantee). The item is now listed as backordered on that site... Not sure if I'm going to buy it based on the runaround.

The item arrived very quickly and I was impressed at the way it looked and the features. Unfortunantly, it stopped chilling after less than two weeks. I contacted the company and they are sending a replacement, so I hope that this one works.

Avanti WCR5403SS 24" Wine Cooler with Wooden Shelves on a Pull-Out Roller Assembly, Mirror Glass Door and Electronic Control Panel Review

Avanti WCR5403SS 24 Wine Cooler with Wooden Shelves on a Pull-Out Roller Assembly, Mirror Glass Door and Electronic Control Panel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the previous Avanti 54-bottle model. I had finally decided to write a review, but just found out it was discontinued (hopefully for the right reasons, which were many). So this review may not necessarily apply to this specific (and newer) model. However, the looks, size, and functions seem to be substantially the same.
PROS:
This Avanti wine cooler is good looking and functional. It has a decent size, which allows it to fit nicely almost anywhere in my apartment.
The transparent windowed door allows you to see your wines and mixes well with the rest of my home environment.
The wine cooler has electronic controls, which makes it very easy to use and set its temperature.
The cooler has different compartments that make wine organization easy. It even has a relatively bigger lower section where you can fit bigger bottles (e.g. average 750 ml champagne bottles).
CONS:
The cooler's performance was very disappointing. The fan/motor broke twice within a 13 month period. The first time it started making noises. At the beginning those noises would go away after a few seconds... these seconds soon turned into minutes. A few days later the vibrations and noise were unbearable and wouldn't stop, unless I unplugged it. Soon not even that did the trick. I just had to permanently unplug it. Period. When that happened I decided to call Avanti's customer service. It was poor. It took 3 calls to get them to agree to send someone over to fix the problem. A couple of months after the cooler was supposedly fixed the problems started all over again. This time Avanti argued the warranty had just expired and refused to come back. Fixing it will now cost $250! That just seemed wrong. So, after all my excitement when it first arrived, I am now the not-so-proud owner of an Avanti "wine display" that makes plenty of noise when turned on.
In summary, don't be fooled by the looks of the Avanti line of wine coolers. Unless Avanti has significantly upgraded the quality of its products and customer service, I would urge careful consideration of an alternative. Good luck!

Never got to use it, as it arrived broken. I was concerned about what happened if it arrived broken, but knew that it wouldn't be an issue as I could physically return it to Target. We would have just exchanged it, but my sister got us a larger one for Christmas as well. but it looked great. So I gave it 3 stars, since I never got to use it.

Sunpentown 20 Bottle Thermo Wine Chiller WC-20TL Review

Sunpentown 20 Bottle Thermo Wine Chiller WC-20TL
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had my Sunpentown 20 for a week now and I like it. Most bottles I have fit except for one of the fatter reds that I have. The shelves slide out and the light is a nice touch. It emits a very low hum. It sits next to my computer and I really don't notice it unless the house is very quiet. The touch control is not overly sensitive and its max low end temp is 54. I plan to regularly clean the exhaust and intake vents since I suspect dirt in them killed my last wine fridge which was NOT a Sunpentown.

Kalorik WCL-20629 Dual-Zone 18-BOTTLE Ventilated Wine Bar Review

Kalorik WCL-20629 Dual-Zone 18-BOTTLE Ventilated Wine Bar
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The fiance and I have wanted a wine cooler for a while and figured this would be a great wedding gift for ourselves. What a mistake that turned out to be. Have owned this for about a month and the bottom section keeps the red wine at a balmy 68 degrees. Understand that the highest you can set it for is 64 degrees. The fans spin but it won't keep the wine cool. Turns out it would cost more to have a repair tech look at it than what we paid for it. If you're looking for a good wine fridge look elsewhere.

Average Reviews:

The inner fan is loud and runs non stop. I called the help line to see if this was the norm or if I had a bad unit and I was quickly told that's how they are supposed to be. Based on her quick response I said you must get this complaint a lot. She agreed and said government regulations force them to be made that way. This little cooler is louder than our two full fridges, our mini fridge, and our chest freezer combined.

Vinotemp VT48TEDS2Z 33" Freestanding Dual Zone Wine Cooler with 48-Bottle Capacity, Thermoelectric Technology, Wood Pull-Out Shelves, Interior Light and Digital Display Review

Vinotemp VT48TEDS2Z 33 Freestanding Dual Zone Wine Cooler with 48-Bottle Capacity, Thermoelectric Technology, Wood Pull-Out Shelves, Interior Light and Digital Display
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
For the sake of disclosure, we have the VT-32TEDS (not the 48) but they are essentially the same thing.
The positives: It looks great, matches our kitchen perfectly and fits under an oddly sized counter, which is about 3/4" too short for just about every other manufacturer. It also runs quietly, most of the time.
The negatives: Our cooler arrived rather unceremoniously in the middle of our lawn, oddly several feet off the path that leads to the door. I don't necessarily blame Vinotemp or Amazon for this, but is was an omen of things to come.
After hauling it into the kitchen, I noticed that it had a large dent in the back corner, so I call Vinotemp customer service. They said that because their products are securely packed (in a cardboard box w/o styrofoam padding) that the dent must have happened while we were installing it. They did give me the option of shipping it back to them, at my cost, so that they could take a look at it but not guarantee a replacement. Since the dent was in back corner, I decided to just suck it up.
As I moved it into place, I also noticed that the doors were poorly hung and lopsided by almost 1/4". My door fun continued as I went to attach the handles, only to find out that the screw holes were drilled almost a full inch off. Vinotemp agreed to send out new handles, but couldn't do anything about the doors being uneven.
Now I'm about 6 months in and the thermometer on the right side goes out, so rather than displaying the temperature, it continually flashed "LO". Again, customer service couldn't do anything, although one guy suggested that I buy a digital BBQ thermometer and just keep it in one of the wine slots. Since we aren't using this to age great wines and the right side was still some indeterminate level of cold, I once again decided to suck it up.
Somewhere around this time we also started having problems with ice build-up, which would rub against the fans causing them to squeal loudly and I think would eventually stop the fans and kill the motors. We figured out a method to defrost it, but it involves unloading the whole thing, hot water, bicycle water bottles and a lot of towels. Expect to do this 2-3 times a year. I realize that it is a fridge, but this seems a bit excessive.
Most recently, one of the control boards in the back went out, making a really annoying repeated buzzing sound and leaving one side at room temperature. They do sell replacements for this, but in now expected fashion, this was a problem as well. After calling to place the order & give them my CC#, they said that they would confirm the order via e-mail and then send it out. No e-mail, but they called the next day and confirmed the order with my wife. 2 weeks later no part. After I called again, they realized that they forgot to e-mail me the form that they needed signed & faxed (yes, faxed) back so that they could reconfirm and process the order. A week and a half later, I readied myself for my repair project, removed the back panel, but then quickly found out that they had sent the wrong part. Mistakes happen, so I e-mailed the customer service rep, explained the problem and asked if they could send out the correct part. She told me that I would need to call customer service and gave me the number to call. I called customer service, heard a familiar voice, and after checking the phone number in the e-mail, I confirmed that I was talking to the same person I had e-mailed 30 minutes prior. So, after repeating my story, effectively reading my original e-mail, she put me on hold... for 10 or 15 minutes. After all that I was rewarded with the knowledge that the part was on back order and that they would probably send it out in 2-4 weeks.
Given the numerous problems I have had with the product itself combined with the company and its employees, I couldn't recommend this to anyone that I didn't really dislike. This is really a poor product, wrapped in a pretty exterior, so it is a bad choice unless they were dressing a set or staging a house and don't need it to actually work for any length of time. Sorry Vinotemp, I really wanted to like it.

Summit SWC530LBI Wine Cooler with Wooden Shelves and 36 Bottle Capacity - SWC530 Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bought this unit based on looks and inferred quality, i.e. maker of commercial products. Unit does not hold consistent temperature. Regardless of what you set, it floats on its own depending on environmental temperature. While house is at 72-76, white wine side will not get below 50. Also noisy operation, much louder than regular fridge. Company support is non-existent. Have sent emails and service requests with no response. Looks great, but first priority is to actually hold temperature. And have no idea where you put the other 10 bottles above 36 shown, 6 bottles x 6 trays. Spend more, buy a name brand with a established service team.

I received mine in perfect condition. I love this unit, the dual-zone feature is great for storing my white and red wine! It has a great look with wood shelves and the stainless steel door & handle, and is surprisingly quiet. I would definitely recommend this product and purchasing it directly from Vinotemp. Koolatron KBW-55DD 18-Bottle Freestanding Dual-Zone Tower Wine Cellar Review

The first unit I ordered was defective; the door hinge was bent and the doors did not seal. I decided to give it another chance and requested a replacement. The second unit was defective as well; the screw holes to attach the door handle were misaligned and the handle would not attach properly. I think it is safe to assume at this point that there are serious quality control issues with this brand. This time I requested a refund. If the rating system allowed me to give it zero stars I would.

Haier HVZ040ABH 40-Bottle Dual-Zone Wine Cellar with Touch-Screen Controls Review

Haier HVZ040ABH 40-Bottle Dual-Zone Wine Cellar with Touch-Screen Controls
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I too bought this item from another dealer for $100 more in price and am having the same experience. The concept was just what I was looking for, but there is absolutely no quality to the product. My problem started with the upper shelves not fitting properly and the temperature never going as low as I wanted for white wines. I called Haier and they sent out a technican who opened the door, took one look, and told me the insulation was blown out and the unit was not repairable. He then proceeded to tell me of all the problems I would encounter in trying to get a refund. Well, he was right! It's amazing how many faxes and emails can simply get lost at Haier America over a two month period. I am now in my 30 day wait for a refund after refusing an exchange. I will never buy another Haier product . . . a Korean product made in China.
Update Nov 8, 2007: I just received my refund check minus 10% for using the cooler. I called Haier and asked how I could "use" a product that had no insulutation. I now have to wait another 4 - 6 weeks to receive the balance of my refund. . .

This product seems to work fine and looks good. It just seems very expensive considering other models I have considered. The biggest selling point for me was the size. It was the only one that fit the undercounter space I had. So, for that, I am grateful.

Vinotemp BC-58 Stainless-Steel 58-Bottle Beverage Cooler Review

Vinotemp BC-58 Stainless-Steel 58-Bottle Beverage Cooler
Average Reviews:

Nicely built, lovely to look at, great built in beverage fridge. The glass door is beautifully transparent, the shelves adjustable and all items on them very accessible.
The lowest temperature setting is 40 degree Fahrenheit but the temperature swings between 44 and 40 as part of maintaining the 40 degree base setting. I wold have preferred a fridge that goes as low as 34 degrees, since beverages will warm up when retrieved from the fridge. It runs quietly and is otherwise a great built-in.

Hold a variety of cans, bottles, or anything else that needs to be kept cool with this freestanding beverage cooler. The unit can accommodate up to 58 bottles, and it offers not only a practical, but also a beautiful design. In addition to its durable stainless-steel construction, the beverage cooler provides a dual-paned energy-efficient glass door with brushed aluminum trim. The unit's interior light makes it easier to peruse the selection, while its locking door helps keep items secure. For added convenience, front venting allows the unit to be built-in under a counter--great for behind the bar, at a business, or even at home, though it should not be placed in the garage due to volatile external temperature ranges. The beverage cooler measures 23 by 23-3/4 by 34-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

The item is not shipped in a box -- it arrived with a cardboard sheath on the top and sides, but the bottom was protected only by a thin sheet of styrofoam. The door was completely broken off and is beyond repair.
