(More customer reviews)I've enjoyed having this little microwave and it's been a fast heater upper. I do have a few issues with the product I wanted to bring to everyone attention, tho. It's painted inside with a cream colored paint that started coming off under the glass plate after a year of use. Maybe it's because my hubby likes to heat his sunflower seeds in the microwave and the plate gets very hot. I'm not sure. Next, just this past week the oven filled up with small, white, lightning bolts and scared me really good. I had to reach and push the release button to open the door not knowing if I would be knocked backwards or risk a fire. In all I believe the microwave gets to hot for the material quality it is made of. Just becareful with this little fellow and treat it with kid gloves. I hope my review helps someone.

Taylor 1479 Digital Commercial Oven Thermometer with Wireless Remote Pager Review

Some folks have complained about it reading inaccurately, and I've found the trick to avoiding those reading problems is ensuring the metal shaft of the temperature probe is only touching the meat, and not the pan or oven grid. Metal to metal contact can supreheat the probe and it can show the meat is done after 60 seconds of cooking. Avoid that contact and this thing is a gem. It's spot on accurate, and made my pork loin come out perfectly. The wireless pager works everywhere in my three level house, including the basement, so you can feel free to roam about doing other things while your dinner cooks. I've used it about five times now, and the probe wire shows no signs of wear, despite having been exposed to 425 degree heat for over 1/2 hour on at least one occasion.

CorningWare French White 6-Piece Cooking and Baking Set Review

(More customer reviews)I've owned French White for years and years, and they were the first casserole dish I always reached for. We had a mishap, broke my 10+ year old large oval casserole and replaced it with a new full set.
What a disappointment!!! CorningWare has changed something in their process or raw materials. The new dishes have tiny little "pits" in them that allows water to penetrate underneath the glaze. It looks unsightly when serving. The heft and feel aren't the same. Neither is the quality. You can tell the new pieces, as the bottoms have a ridge molded into the base. The older pieces are completely flat.
Using the new large oval dish, my adult daughter removed a full dish on lasagna from the oven and set it on a room temperature (burners turned off)stove top to cool. The dish shattered into pieces, and we had to throw everything out. CorningWare sent a replacement at no charge. The new dish has the same defects as the one that shattered.
I've been shopping at thrift stores and have managed to find older pieces. So disappointing the manufacture has cheapened/changed what was once a fabulous can't-live-without product.

As foodies, our kitchen is chock full of utensils, including a drawer full of measuring spoons. They were all over the place, each set was incomplete, and they were impossible to organize. Time for a new set and get rid of the rest!
I was looking for stainless steel spoons. Hubby likes the round and I like the oblong style, so this set caught my attention right away. Then I saw the magnetic feature. Pretty cool. I ordered these and they arrived in a timely manner. The magnets are strong enough to keep the spoons together despite shifting around in a drawer, and the spoons themselves are sturdy and feel like they will last for a long time. The best part is how easy they are to put away, organize and keep track of! The old spoons on the rings are ancient history. (More customer reviews)I bought this based on the Cook's Illustrated review. The first thing I noticed is the hanging hook doesn't fit the heavy racks in our Viking oven. Fortunately the magnet mount works well and I stuck it on the back wall of the oven under the light. The third mounting method is a flip down wire stand. I haven't tried this but it seems like it will be fine for a flat surface like a cookie sheet or pizza stone.
Aside from mounting issues the thermometer seems functional. I'd prefer a bigger more readable model that I can read through the oven window.

(More customer reviews)At long last I've found a way to sustain my Cilantro habit. Every single time I go to the store, I buy at least one bunch of organic cilantro as I put it in everything. But more often than not, part of it turns black before I get to it and wrecks the whole bunch. At $1.50 per bunch, it adds up. Growing it myself did not work at all, so I've been on the look-out for a solution. And guess what? I found it. Cuisipro's Herb Keeper really works and I've yet to throw away yucky black cilantro, or any other herb, since I've started using it.
I was skeptical about this at first, mainly because it's plastic and I have a thing against plastic, plus I suspected it contained BPA since it's a hard clear plastic. However, a rep at Cuisipro assured me that it is SAN plastic and does not contain BPA. I do wish it were glass, but that is my only complaint.
I've tried all sorts of ways to prolong the life of fresh herbs, and this is the most effective I've found yet. It's clean and easy to manage. You just wash your herbs really well, pull out any browning or black stems or leaves, and place the stems in the container on the stick. You fill the bottom a with about two inches of water (I change mine at least every other day) and lower the stick down into the water. And voila! Just snip off what you need, when you need it.

Norpro Stoneware Butter Keeper Review

(More customer reviews)Never having used one before, I was pleased to see how well the butter keeper works. It's such a practical gadget based on a simple principle.
Unfortunately, after about six months the Norpro revealed a problem that makes me think it should be replaced. The glazing developed many (almost invisible) hairline cracks under the butter, and oil from the butter was then absorbed by the clay container. After washing and drying, the container now slowly oozes rancid oil through the glaze. It continues oozing for many days, even after repeated washing.
I have come to love having softened butter on hand, and I will definitely buy another butter keeper, but I'll try a different brand. Perhaps this is one instance of getting what you pay for.

(More customer reviews)I was originally looking to buy a cheaper play kitchen as I wasn't too sure of how long my kids would play with it. After checking various websites and reading the reviews on almost 50 different play kitchens(Yes, I actually did go through and read all the reviews. I wanted to tear my eyeballs out after two days of searching and reading reviews, lol), I decided on this one. I'm glad I went with this one! The cheaper ones all seemed to be very small(based on the dimensions given in the info)and since I have two kids, I wanted something a little bit bigger that they can both play together.
This one had the stove in the middle and the oven to the right, which is nice because I noticed quite a few other ones had the stove right above the oven which is how a traditional oven-stove combo is but that doesn't really allow more than one child to 'cook' at one time with-out fighting. It also doesn't have any weird 'awning' like thing that I saw on some others and I'm glad on that too because the ones with the little 'awnings' seem to take up quite a bit of the play space above the stove area.
My daughter is 2 years old and my son is 7, it's big enough for both of them to play together and they both LOVE it!! They play with it everyday and I am always hearing giggles, laughter and imaginetive dishes being made up(hot dog-carrot-apple-grape cake anyone? LOL). This was well worth the money and makes a decent amount of noise. The phone, microwave and stove make noise, I do wish that the oven made at least a beep sound or something but oh, well. It even has a real working clock! Great for my kids to keep track of realy time when playing!
This comes with screws to secure certain pieces but once it's all snapped together, I found that it was actually very sturdy and secure, so I only used the screws where it was absolutely needed. For the screws, it will be much easier if you have a drill but other than that, it was REALLY easy to assemble. The main pieces just snap into place and it only took about an hour for me to assemble all if by myself and I didn't use a drill(I couldn't find mine, lol). You do have to put the stickers on and I actually haven't put them on yet but my kids haven't even noticed so I'm not in any rush to deal with that headache, lol.
In the picture it looks white, it's really more of a beige/cream color but that could just be the way the picture looks on my computer because the rest of the it looks just like the picture and the color doesn't bother me at all. I didn't give it 5 stars because that means it would have to be PERFECT and since some of the smaller pieces and stickers aren't already on and the microwave isn't fully assembled, I rated it 4 stars but that's my only complaint and really that isn't much of a problem.
Overall, I'm VERY happy with this kitchen and my kids LOVE it! I would definitely recommend this play kitchen! It was definitely worth the $140 I spent on it.

(More customer reviews)This has to be one of the best deals around, even at twice the price, because it replaces so many other things, and is so durable.
The containers work nicely for food storage, but they also can be used for cooking. They go from freezer to oven or microwave, and are dishwasher safe as well. Pyrex is practically unbreakable. With normal use, this set could easily last a lifetime. At the current price, they actually cost less than plastic containers, which do not have either the durability or versatility.
If all that's not enough, consider the health benefits. Glass will not leech plasticiser into your food, and there's no dioxin to worry about when microwaving.
I don't usually rave about kitchen items, but after I recieved this set, I rushed back to order another. I'm getting rid of most of the plastics in my cabinets today!

Also, most smaller crock pots have only one setting, but this one has three (high, low, and keep warm). It has a nice glass lid and a removable ceramic crock, both of which you can clean in the dishwasher. I use mine at least a few times a week, and I'm very satisfied with the purchase.

Its slender needle goes into hunks of meat quickly, and the whole thing is light enough that, if you are concerned that your burgers on the grill are properly cooked, you can easily put this in your pocket as you head to the back yard. Small note of caution for other dummies like me: the dial is under a plastic window, and so the whole thing should not go -in- the oven. For that, you want a meat thermoeter with a glass face.
