I'm so glad I did some research after getting ripped off once by Sears for a filter with that not so wonderful Kenmore name on it.

My issues are that shipping was high compared to some other online vendors and it took past the expected delivery times to arrive. I had to contact Amazon to complain. Amazon then forwarded my complaint to the vendor (who apologized) and I received delivery in about 10 days after ordering.

(More customer reviews)The price was very good for the filter. It was less than half the price of the OEM recommended filter. However, the water that travels through this filter does not have a good taste. It still tastes like the unfiltered water. I have only owned my fridge for about 6 months, so I have not tried any other brands besides the OEM, which seemed to be a little better. I will try a different brand in about 3-4 months and see how it compares. It is a good value. I just do not hve any experience with other filters to compare it, too.

Also, the WSG-1 did not fit in my GE Profile refrigerator. I returned the WSG-1 units I ordered.

The pricing is the same. I have no problem with this over the past several years. If you buy from maytagfilters.com it will cost more ($35.95 if you buy 3) than the home center pricing ($34.95 for 1), but the AMAZON price is the best around.

(More customer reviews)I have a Kenmore refrigerator form Sears that I bought about a year and a half ago. Kenmore is actually made by Whirlpool and although the filter this replaced was labeled Kenmore, this is the exact same filter but labeled Whirlpool instead. I looked it up on the Sears site and they wanted $50 for the same filter. The price is a steal and even though it says 6 months I used it for over a year since I have soft water in my house and only one person. My fridge has a 6 month built in timer that goes from green to orange to red when the 6 months is up. I thought it might be based on actual usage, but it's not, because it went red at exactly 6 months and I use far less water than most other households. I have no idea why more time would harm a filter, as far as I'm concerned it's just a marketing tactic to get you to buy them more often then needed, like oil changes every 3,000 miles.

(More customer reviews)After a month of use to get it broken in I believe I can share my brief experience with this filter. First off, installation was really easy. Less than 30 minutes (don't forget to 'flush' it for five minutes). The water I had previously smelled and tasted like pool water. It seemed to have a more than acceptable amount of chlorine going by smell alone. As soon as I plugged this filter in instantly odorless tasteless water came out. Also, very recently some maintenance was done to the city pipes turning all the water in the house brown for a short while. Sinks, toilets, hose, everything that is except the fridge attached to this filter was clearly brown. Hands down side by side comparison this filter does an awesome job. If you want a better sense of security and want to remove the nasties that end up in your water get this filter.
