(More customer reviews)I puchased this exact filter through amazon in January 2006. Now in March 2009, I have to order a replacement filter. I have it installed directly to my refrigerator for ice and drinking water, no other draws. So it seems that these last about 3 years. When first installed, the flow rate through the filter was much slower than anticipated and it took almost twice as long to get water as the original model. Over time I have either gotten used to it or the flow rate has increased due to it wearing out. Removing the filter also caused the rubber o-ring to dislodge and fall to the floor, making re-assembly have a massive leak. Luckily I noticed the missing ring, eventually found it and got it re-assembled for a leak-free installation. Thread's are a little tricky to line up, but once installed and water turned on, no fuss for 3 more years. That is, unless they stop making this model again. I may order 3 or 4 of these just to make sure I have them on hand for the future.
I would also reccomend cleaning out the connector ends at filter change. They seem to have a build up that can easily be washed away. Should help maintain the freshness of the water.

Since I suspect a lot of people might want to install these after their counter has already been installed, I fault the seller for not clarifying that this is not possible. Hence the three stars for a product that would probably work great otherwise.

(More customer reviews)This is not an exact copy of 4395610. This is only a carbon filter and does not remove all the contaminates of 4395610. 4395610 also Reduces cysts, asbestos, particulates, lead, and mercury.
If all you want is a carbon filter this does the job but you can get it even cheaper if you look at other part numbers that fit your fridge. These also sell as 4396508 for under $60.
If you are going to compare a product it should do the same thing.

The description says these are a match for the Amana 46-9904 filter, which is the one we use in our fridge. However, when we got them, they didn't fit properly and water was spraying everywhere. On the plus side the company gave us no hassle about returning them (except we had to pay shipping back). The company was very responsive and good to work with. So the one star is for the product, not the company.

(More customer reviews)The price was very good for the filter. It was less than half the price of the OEM recommended filter. However, the water that travels through this filter does not have a good taste. It still tastes like the unfiltered water. I have only owned my fridge for about 6 months, so I have not tried any other brands besides the OEM, which seemed to be a little better. I will try a different brand in about 3-4 months and see how it compares. It is a good value. I just do not hve any experience with other filters to compare it, too.

(More customer reviews)I have had my Frigidare refrigerator for about 5 years now. The filters used to have a thick housing over the two smaller cylinders and it worked wonderfully. I never experienced any problems with those filters. About 2 years ago they changed the design taking away the outer housing leaving only the two smaller cylinders. Since then I have been through 8 filters in two years. When you cover the outlet hole and blow into the inlet hole, you can see the water spirt out of the side of the cartridge. It doesn't always occur at the top seal; however, many times the leak is in the plastic but you can see where the seam glue has run down to the spot where it's leaking. It appears that the glue they are using is dissolving the weak plastic and causing it to leak. I'm not sure what you can do about it but I just save my receipts and take them back about every 2-4 months when they fail. It's a pain but the manufacturer won't do anything about it. I just won't buy another Frigidare in the future!

Frigidaire PureSource WFCB Water Filter Review

The advertisement states you will receive a "Frigidaire PureSourcePlus Ice & Water Filter (WFCB, 46-9906)". The product did not come in a Frigidaire PureSourcePlus package...just plastic wrap. I installed the filter and the water came out jet black. I ordered two of them so I tried the second filter, and the water was jet black again. This has never happened with Frigidaire filter.
I checked the invoice and it said they are Frigidair WFCB/RC-200 "Compatible" Replacement Regrigeragor Water Filters. If the company is selling a "compatible" filter, and not the manufacturer's filter why does the Amazon site describes and has a picture of the Frigidaire filter?
I e-mailed the company and they replied "Thank you for your order and email. From your description your new filters need to be flushed."
I ended up spending a lot more money and bought a Frigidaire filter but the water now does not taste the same.
This has been my worst online purchase experiences with Amazon.
In addition, while we did not request a refund the company subsequently wrote back and stated that they would credit our account since we were not happy with the purchase. While the company's customer service department was prompt and responsive, the Amazon website description should reflect the item being purchased in order to avoid confusion.

(More customer reviews)This filter is a piece of junk. It didn't last even 3 months, but product description said it would last 6 months. Water was tasting bad at 3 months. In addition it was not easy to install. When I tried to remove it at 3 months, I couldn't get it off the water line. I ended up severly crimping and bending the water line struggling to remove the filter. The filter is a very poor design and was poor quality compared to previous filter I have purchased. Save yourself a lot of trouble and just don't purchase it.
